This year, Scottsdale Cal Ripken has created its inaugural SCR Sportsmanship Award.
As a developmental baseball league, one of our goals is to foster and acknowledge outstanding actions by our players and coaches. This award is meant to recognize our league’s athletes who exemplify the ideals of sportsmanship with ethical behavior, respect, empathy, and integrity.
We were taken aback by the amazing stories shared to us by the coaches. There were so many wonderful and inspiring displays of sportsmanship which reminded us why we enjoy volunteering for the league and supporting youth baseball and these wonderful players.
The SCR Board of Directors has selected a grand prize winner as well as 6 additional winners for our first ever “SCR Sportsmanship Award”. Before announcing the SCR Sportsmanship Award winner, I’d like to briefly introduce the 6 runners-up and share a little about them.
